TRIMBLE YUMA, THE OUTDOOR-CONCEPT 7-INCHER

Todays tablet market arguably belong to the Android tablet and the iPad (IOS). But an american company engaged in mobile solutions and mapping technology, Trimble, launched its Trimble Yuma, a Windows-based tablet attributing outdoor capabilities. As already disclosed above, Trimble Yuma adopted Windows Vista or Win 7 OS.

The tablet carries 7-inch touch screen, where the display is designed specifically for 'sun resistant'. So even under direct sun light beam, the screen displays nice and clear.  The sunlight-readable display measures offers WVGA resolution, which means 1024 x 600 pixel.

To support outdoor functions, Trimble Yuma tablet has a magnesium alloy casing, resistant to water, dust and impact. The result, the tablet is strong and resilient, as for the operating temperature, the tablet is able to work inside the temperature of -30 degrees to 60 degrees.

This tablet PC has won the certification standards of MIL-STD-810F and IP67, the military standard.

Indeed, Trimble Yuma tablet PC is not too popular in the market. However, in addition to a solid outdoor concept, this device was noted to have cool features. Let's take its dual camera, with geotagging capabilities, able to mark the location of the photograph or video taken. This feature is not separated from the presence of GPS devices, with SiRF Star III chipset. The camera and video application is powerful, has a path logger mode that allows "path tracking" with the help of the Yuma's GPS function. The idea here is that the unit logs GPS info in six second intervals and also attaches pictures. This will then be output as a KML file that can be used with Google Earth.

As for the brain, Trimble Yuma is embeded with Intel Atom Z530 processor speed 1.6 GHz. For hard drive has 32GB and 80GB capacity options of type SSD (Solid State Disk), which ensures fast and reliable performance.

Trimble Yuma weighs heavy enough, 2.62lbs, due to its metal-flavored material shell. But it is still relatively comfortable in the field though. Trimble Yuma can be attacehed with a variety of accessories, such as a dock or a ram-mount, which can be installed in the vehicle or the other.
