Will Google Take Asus for Google's Nexus Tablet?

Rumors, buzzing that Asus and Google plan to bring a cheap tablet, are growing louder and louder. Furthermore, the tablet, collaborating the Taiwan tablet vendor and the Internet Giant, is going to be revealed early next May.

According to industrial sources, reported by DigiTimes, the 7-inch tablet will be priced around
199-249 USD, which is not much different from the Amazon Kindle Fire.

Asus has yet given any comment on this, while Google, according to the sources, has been looking for Taiwan-based partners since the end of 2011. Other than Asus, there are also several potential partners in Taiwan, including HTC and Acer.

The source revealed that despite of its strength in designs, HTC is already determined to develop a 'co-brand' model. HTC is also reluctant to develop low price devices, that can damage its brand image. While Acer doesn't have their own R & D capability.

Google finally chose Asus, for its ODM capability and quality. Asus motivation to cooperate with Google is to get Google's trust to facilitate the development of Android-based devices. Not only that, Asus is also hoping to learn from Google's technology to develop software and content, as well as to enter the US. tablet market.

Whatever Happened to Android Market: Google Play

Changing the name of the well known 'Android Market' to 'Google Play' is surely a big decision. What's the story behind, since changing the name may somehow indicate that something is wrong with Android Market.

So far, the Android Market is known for its service as official apps and games provider for Android users. This is what Google wants to change, Google Play is not only for Android users.

Google Play offers new stigma that this site provides all the entertainment. Ranging from music, books, movies, apps, and games. This site will be a cool place to 'hang out'. Let's play in Google's Play!

“We were making a lot of bets in a lot of places, now we’re harvesting the bets that have paid off and weeding out the others." said Google executive Bradley Horowitz in an interview with Venture Beat.

If the internet-giant applies good marketing strategy, as well as filling good contents, relevant to the needs of the market, this site will shortly become something "addictive".

Because Google's Play is designed not only for Android users. Try it! https://play.google.com/

Google Nexus Tablet

The market tablet is very delicious, which atrract more vendors to come into play within this segment. The successful Apple's iPad seemed to be somekind of a barometer for other manufacturers.

Google seems to be interested in this tablet segment, where, according to senior analyst Richard Shim, from DisplaySearch, says that the search engine company will launch the Nexus tablet sometime in the summer this year.

Also reported, Google’s Eric Shmidt said that a Google-branded tablet might be launched in the first semester of 2012. Furthermore, a report from DigiTimes suggests that the tablet will be a Nexus-branded device, will have a seven-inch display and a $199 price point, and may arrive as early as April. Nexus brand has been a Google icon for each of its smartphone products, which seems to be continuing into the tablet. So it is possible the news is true. We wait and see.
